Hello everyone! Today is day TWO of the THIRTEEN days until Halloween! We'll be taking a look at track 2, "Tristram und Isolde", from the new Album:
This one is based off the town theme of Tristram, from Diablo 1. Matthew (bassist) and I have both put a HEROIC amount of time into all three of the games in the series, and so it only seemed logical to cover this wonderful piece.
We originally arranged it back in 2008, and performed it as an encore at PAX 2008, in Seattle, WA:
They had only recently announced D3 at this point, so it seemed fitting! This particular moment (and arrangement) has even been discussed in Winifred Phillips' book, "A Composer's Guide to Game Music."
This one features our first guest artist, Ryan Cockerham, on violin. William and I went to college with Ryan, and he is a truly talented and energetic performer. He's played with us on a few occasions over the years, and we are very lucky to have him on an album for the first time!
Former performers on the piece include Greg Kennedy, former OneUps member, on violin, and Elaine Li of Select Start fame, on violin.
Enjoy day two! Stay tuned for more track details, and don't forget you can pick the album up at Loudr FM, iTunes, Google Play, and AmazonMP3, if you feel like contributing!
Stay awhile and listen!
